Press Tools: Compound, Blanking & Piercing Dies
When flatness matters or volumes don't justify a progressive tool, a well-built compound or single-stage press tool is the smarter investment.
Not every part needs a progressive tool. For parts where flatness and accuracy matter most, or where monthly volumes are moderate, a compound die or a set of single-stage press tools gives you a lower tooling cost with excellent part quality.
Press tools we build
- Compound dies: cutting and piercing in one stroke at one station, for very flat parts
- Blanking tools: clean outer profiles for washers, plates and laminations
- Piercing tools: accurate holes and slots in pre-blanked parts
- Bending and forming tools: brackets, channels and formed components
Choosing the right tool
The right tooling depends on part geometry, tolerance and volume. We explain the trade-offs in Progressive vs. Compound Dies. With your RFQ, we recommend a route and explain why. If volumes grow later, we can move you to a progressive tool.
Built for accuracy
All tools are made in our Vasai tool room. Punches and die inserts are cut on CNC wire cut EDM to hold accurate cutting clearances. Every tool is tried on the press before delivery.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose a compound die or a progressive die?
Compound dies give excellent flatness and cost less to build, but run slower. Progressive dies cost more but produce parts much faster. As a rule of thumb, above about 50,000 parts per month a progressive tool usually pays for itself. Send us the drawing and volume and we will recommend one.
Can you make a set of single-stage tools instead of one progressive tool?
Yes. For lower volumes or larger parts, a set of blanking, piercing and bending tools can be the most economical route. We will compare options in the quotation.
